Aluminum

Aluminum is a lightweight, non-magnetic, silver-colored metal that can be formed into almost any shape. It can be rolled into thick plates for armored tanks or thin foil for wrappers. It can also be drawn into wire and made into cans.
Pure aluminum is soft and has limited strength. Small amounts of elements such as copper, magnesium, and zinc are often added to increase strength.

Aluminum is a comparatively new industrial metal that has been produced in commercial quantities for just over 100 years.

Aluminum 6061-T6

Aluminum 6061-T6 is a heat-treatable alloy boasting high strength and corrosion resistance. Contains magnesium and silicon as main alloying elements. T6 signifies solution heat-treated and artificially aged. Ideal for aerospace, automotive, and structural uses. Known for its weldability and durability.

Aluminum 7075-T6

Aluminum 7075 is prized for its high strength and hardness, making it an ideal choice for products that must withstand high loads or extensive wear and tear. 7075 aluminum is also low in weight and resistant to corrosion. Anodizing can further improve the corrosion resistance of 7075 aluminum and give it an attractive appearance.

Aluminum 5083-H111

Aluminum 5083 H111 is a non-heat-treatable, strain hardened and thermally stabilized aluminum alloy with excellent corrosion resistance, especially to seawater. It has moderate strength, good weldability and ductility making it well suited for marine applications, unfired pressure vessels, cryogenic storage tanks, and transportation equipment.

Aluminum 6082

Aluminum 6082 is a medium-strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. It contains magnesium and silicon as main alloying components. Often used in highly stressed applications, it’s weldable and exhibits good formability. Popular in structural engineering, especially in bridges and transport vehicles.

CNC Machined Aluminum Applications

Aluminum parts can be found everywhere, in a range of industries, especially automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment and machinery, and consumer and computer electronics.

Automotive parts (light-weighting provides high strength-to-weight ratio)

Housing, brackets, and other components for aerospace use that must support heavy load capacities but be light weight

Fixtures, calipers, and a variety of other parts for industrial equipment

Enclosures, panels, consoles, knobs, housing, and other applications for consumer and computer electronics

Surface Finishes For CNC Machined Aluminum Parts

Many types of surface finishes can be applied to CNC machined aluminum parts. The most common finishes we provides are anodizing, powder coating, bead blast and plating. Each of these finishes has unique benefits. Choose the one best suits your needs!

PhotoNameDescription
21.pngAs machinedThe machined aluminum parts are left with visible tool marks and potentially sharp edges and burrs, which can be removed upon request.
22.pngBead BlastedGive the machined parts a smooth and uniform matte surface finish, thereby removing tool marks.
23.pngPolishingCreating a smooth and shiny surface by manually polishing in multiple directions or by applying a chemical polish treatment.
24.pngAnodizingType II (Anodizing color or clear) or Type III (Anodizing hard coat) Anodizing does not cover tool marks unless bead blasted beforehand.
25.pngChromate Conversion CoatingIncrease the part's corrosion resistance while retaining its conductivity. RoHS compliant.
26.pngDecorative Chrome PlatingEnhance aesthetics and durability of the cnc aluminum components.
27.pngPowder CoatApplying powdered paint to the components and then baking it in an oven, which results in a stronger, more wear- and corrosion-resistant layer that is more durable than traditional painting methods.

CNC Machining Aluminum FAQs

Q
Do you have a minimum order quantity?
A
NO! – No minimum quantity! We provides prototypes and short to medium-run production machining services.
Q
What general tolerances can AT Machining achieve?
A
General Machining Tolerances on metal to +/- 0.005" (+/- 0.127 mm) following ISO 2768 unless otherwise specified. Plastics and composites will be +/- 0.010”(+/- 0.254 mm).
Q
What type of design files does PY precision accept for quoting?
A
For the 3D drawing, we would prefer STEP, IGES, or X_T format. For the 2D drawing, we would prefer PDF format there are tolerances with the dimensions if possible

Q
What precision tolerances can AT Machining achieve?
A

Precision Machining Tolerances down to ±.0002" (0.005mm). AT can manufacture and inspect to tight tolerances per your drawing specifications.

Q
How can I pay PY -Precision
A
We accepts payment in two ways: 1. Bank to bank wire transfer 2. PayPal
Q
How quickly can I get my parts?
A
Lead times are 2 to 3 weeks for prototypes and 4 weeks for production runs. Emergency and rush services are available.
